These prestigious studentships aim to support the training of future academic leaders in cancer research and statistical machine learning. We are seeking cross-institutional PhD research proposals from Imperial and ICR academics supervisory teams eligible for student supervision.
The projects must integrate cancer research with statistics and machine learning and also align with the CRUK CSC priorities:

These studentships at their core need to develop novel statistical and machine learning methodology for application in one of these research themes.
Studentships awarded through these calls will start in October 2025, with students enrolling onto StatML CDT at the Department of Mathematics, Imperial College London.
What is available?
The studentship will cover tuition fees at home rate and stipend (£23,000 per year) for a total of 4 years. In addition, there is a Research Training and Support Grant to cover travel, conference participation, academic placements and consumables as allowed under the terms and conditions of CRUK and EPSRC.

Review and Award: Each proposal will be reviewed by the CSC Training Committee and the StatML Scientific Committee, whose expertise cuts across cancer biology, convergence research and StatML.
