Acknowledging our funding
Acknowledging our funding
In addition to directly funding projects and staff, the CRUK Convergence Science Centre supports essential research infrastructure at both Imperial and the ICR, including technology platforms (e.g. organoid facilities, microfabrication), grant writing support (e.g. Human Factors) and the provision of specialist advice. The Convergence Science Centre also plays an important role in facilitating the establishment of cross-disciplinary collaborations between Imperial and ICR researchers through the hosting of engagement and education events.
You should acknowledge the Convergence Science Centre wherever you have received direct or indirect support from it in all peer-reviewed publications and research presentations. Projects that should credit the Centre are likely to involve collaboration between the ICR and Imperial, will be multidisciplinary, and will have benefited in some way from the Centre through funding, facilities, advice and support, or via events and other activities designed to facilitate collaboration. Acknowledgement of Convergence Science Centre funding is an important metric used by Cancer Research UK to justify future budgets and is particularly critical during the quinquennial Major Centre grant renewal process. It is therefore essential for the ICR and Imperial to credit the Centre for the continued support of convergence science projects and infrastructure in the long term.
For any projects directly supported by the Centre (such as those funded by a Development Fund award) acknowledgement of Convergence Science Centre funding is a contractual requirement and a condition of your funding. PIs should inform the Centre’s Operations team when publications resulting from the funding are accepted to allow the Centre an opportunity to publicise achievements. The Operations team produces regular reports on publication acknowledgements and this information may be used to guide future funding decisions.
Research presentations should acknowledge the support of the Centre in acknowledgement slides by the use of the Convergence Science Centre logo. This can be obtained here.
Direct project funding
For research projects directly and mainly funded by the Convergence Science Centre i.e. through Development Fund, Translational Fund or Thematic Funding, use the following in publication acknowledgements:

If your research has received funding from multiple sources, please list them in order of contribution, including the Convergence Centre as appropriate.
Funding of salaries
Staff whose salary is paid by the Centre and who work across both organisations (i.e. those working in shared infrastructure posts or Centre Operations) should list the Convergence Science Centre as part of their institutional affiliation.
For directly funded/part-funded members of staff and PhD students, use the following in publication acknowledgements:
“<Researcher’s name or initials> is/was supported by the CRUK Convergence Science Centre at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, and Imperial College London (A26234).”
Infrastructure support
For infrastructure support, use the following in publication acknowledgements:

Clinical training in convergence science
For Clinical Intercalated PhD (iPhD) students and Clinical Research Fellows funded through the CRUK Clinical Academic Training Programme, and who are part of the Convergence Science Centre Training Programme, use the following in publication acknowledgements:
