Jun 14, 2024, 15:25 PM by Arnaud Legrand

Following recent announcement of partnership with the successful funding for two EPSRC CDT bids,The CRUK Convergence Science Centre, Institute of Chemical Biology-CDTand Statistics and Machine Learning-CDT are pleased to invite you to two Co-creation workshops to generate projects for non-clinical PhD studentships starting in the 2025/26 academic year.

Important notice: Convergence Non-Clinical PhD Studentships will be co-funded with EPSRC CDTs for the academic years 2025 and 2026. There will be no additional calls for these studentships this year.

Purpose:

To facilitate the development of projects that align with both the Convergence Science Centre training programme and EPSRC CDT programmes, co-creation events have been scheduled for prospective supervisors. These events provide an opportunity to discuss projects and form supervisory teams. While attendance at these workshops is not mandatory for project submission, we strongly encourage interested parties to participate.

How to Register for the events:

CRUK Convergence Science Centre - StatML CDT Non-clinical studentships

25th June, 13:00-16:00 at Convergence Science Centre Space, South Kensington, SW7 2AZ

For potential supervisors considering applying for CRUK Convergence Science Centre - StatML CDT Non-clinical studentships, starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, please use this link to register interest for the Co-creation event which aims to connect cancer researchers with mathematicians to work together and build projects.

CRUK Convergence Science Centre – ICB CDT Non-clinical studentships

1st July, 9.30-16.00 at Molecular Sciences Research Hub, White City, W12 0BZ

For potential supervisors considering applying for CRUK Convergence Science Centre - ICB CDT Non-clinical studentships, starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, please use this link to register interest for the Co-creation event which aims to connect cancer researchers with physical sciences researchers to work together and build projects.

What is available?

Studentships are typically 4 years in duration and provide the following:

  • Tax-free annual stipend of £23,000 per annum for successful candidates
  • PhD registration fees at the UK rate; and
  • Research running costs.

These prestigious studentships aim to support the training of future academic leaders in cancer research, chemical biology and statistical machine learning. They provide an exceptional opportunity for students to undertake world-class training in cancer and in convergence science through the ICR/Imperial Convergence Science Centre and two EPSRC CDTs. This will provide students with the expertise to discover, develop, and deliver the next generation of tools, technologies and research methodologies in cancer research.

What are we looking for?

  • Addresses an unmet need in cancer which aligns with the strategic research theme
  • Proposed projects must be cross-institutional (should have at least 1 eligible supervisor from the CDT and 1 from ICR) from at least two different disciplines.
  • Addresses the need for a convergence science approach to meet the challenge
