New position available: Health Economist (Early Health Economic Modelling or Technology Assessment)

This is a full time position at the CRUK Convergence Science Centre

 

Under the leadership of Professor Axel Behrens, we are seeking to appoint a Research Manager in Early Health Economic Modelling or Technology Assessment to join the Convergence Science Centre team. The appointee will practise Early Health Technology Assessment and/or Early Health Economic Modelling on new cancer diagnostic and treatment innovations being developed by leading scientists at Imperial College London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, The Institute for Cancer Research, London, and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.  The appointee will develop models to assess whether the new cancer diagnostic and treatment innovations could potentially impact health and costs, to inform cost-effectiveness and evaluate where it should be positioned in clinical practice or further developed to maximize its potential value. The appointee will also carry out research to improve efficiency and efficacy of evidence generation e.g., systematic reviews and meta-analysis, economic evaluation alongside clinical trials, and decision analytic modelling. The appointee will be working in a small but dynamic group carrying out multi-disciplinary research projects and, is expected to submit publications to high quality peer reviewed journals, and to attract external research funding.


Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have a PhD in health technology assessment, health economics, health innovation management, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience. Candidates must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and collaborative working practices. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.


Department/Directorate Information

The Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre was established as a strategic partnership between the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and Imperial College London (ICL). The mission of the CRUK Convergence Science Centre is to bring together engineering, physical sciences, life sciences and medicine to develop innovative ways to address challenges in cancer research to benefit cancer patients. This is achieved through multidisciplinary collaborations that integrate otherwise distinct approaches to co-create new tools, technologies and methodologies. To support these collaborations, the Centre provides infrastructure funding to allow the provision of specialist scientific services that complement and extend the ongoing research activity.

The successful candidate will be line managed by Professor Axel Behrens, Scientific Director of the CRUK Convergence Science Centre. Professor Behrens also leads a Cancer Stem Cell team at the ICR under the Division of Breast Cancer Research
