Convergence Science Policy Survey
Cross-disciplinary scientific research and innovation has been highlighted as an essential component for improving cancer patient outcomes. Therefore, there is an increasing focus on the field of convergence science, defined as “integrating knowledge, methods, and expertise from different disciplines and forming novel frameworks to catalyse scientific discovery and innovation”. However, the UK’s research ecosystem – including academic institutions, publishers and research funders – is not always conducive to supporting scientists who straddle research boundaries.
The Convergence Science Centre is undertaking a piece of work to begin addressing the challenges faced by cross-disciplinary researchers. As part of this, we are conducting a short survey to understand more about the cross-disciplinary research landscape in the UK and identify case studies to showcase cross-disciplinary science and cancer research. This survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Results will be aggregated into a report or publication to provide an overall picture of activities and findings that will be key in informing our policy recommendations to funders, research institutes and publishers.
If you have any questions regarding the survey, please get in touch.
